I am a translational virologist with extensive training in investigating virus-host interactions during human pregnancy. My research expertise focuses on understanding how emerging and re-emerging viruses affect pregnancy outcomes and the maternal-fetal interface, the placenta. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at Lim Lab, Department of Microbiology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai ISMMS, New York, NY, USA. I have studied the effects of flaviviruses (Zika virus,ZIKV), coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-2), and poxviruses (MPXV) on maternal and perinatal health, with broader interests in translational maternal health research and molecular virology. My work has explored the impact of these infections on placental biology and maternal morbidity, such as preeclampsia. My academic background includes a bachelors degree (BSc) in Biological Sciences (2020) and a masters degree (MSc) in Health Sciences (2022), both obtained from the University of Campinas UNICAMP, Brazil. I have a doctorates degree (PhD) in Health Sciences minor in Maternal and Perinatal Health (2024) obtained from UNICAMP, with a collaborative period at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, USA.
