Manoel Sebastião Alves Filho

Graduated in Portuguese-English Language and Literature from Universidade Regional do Cariri (URCA), Masters and PhD in Linguistics from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). He completed a sandwich doctorate at Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 between October 2021 and September 2022, as well as a supplementary internship in February 2024. He also carried out an internship at Universidad de Buenos Aires between March and Avril 2024. He was a scholarship recipient from Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP). He is a member of Laboratório de Estudos do Discurso (LABOR). He organized national and international events, including three editions of the Colóquio Internacional de Análise do Discurso (UFSCar) and the Journée internationale d'études discursives: l'Amérique latine en dialogue (Fondation Jean-Jaurès, Paris). He has published book chapters and articles, including the chapter Discourse in the collection Estudos do discurso: conceitos fundamentais (Vozes). His research focuses on the production of discourses about the relationships between humans and other animals, at the intersection of Discourse Analysis, History of Linguistic Ideas, History of Sensibilities, and History of Animals.
