Taís de Moraes Alves

Taís graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo in 2014. In 2017, she attended the Master of Advanced Studies in Collective Housing, a program offered by the Polytechnic School of Madrid (ETSAM) and by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). After completing the program, she worked in competitions at the Swiss office Gmür Geschwentner Architekten + Stadtplaner AG.Between 2020 and 2021, Taís was the researcher responsible for the PIPE Phase 1 project (FAPESP) entitled "ArqFlex: Industrialized System of Flexible Modules in Engineered Timber" and she is currently the researcher responsible for the PIPE Phase 2 project (FAPESP) named "ArchFlex: Constructive System for Buildings in Engineered Timber". Among the results of the research, the book "Wood Architecture: The Modern Brazilian Experience" stands out, currently under editorial review.In 2021, Taís became Leaders in Innovation Fellow (LIF 7), Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). In 2022, she received the 2nd place award at the Falling Walls Lab Brazil event, organized by DWIH, and qualified to participate in the international final of Falling Walls Lab in Berlin, Germany.Also worthy of mention are the prizes obtained in architecture competitions, among which the student competition "Development of a Café for the University Campus" (2011), in which she obtained 3rd prize; the national competition for architects "Cultural Center FIRJAN - Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro" (2012), in which the project was semifinalist of stage II; and the national public competition for architects "Headquarters of the Prosecutors Office of the State of Paraíba in João Pessoa" (2013), in which the project was awarded with the 2nd prize.
