Birthplace: Brazil

Physician graduated from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1989). Completed medical residency in Neurology in 1993, at the Faculty of Medicine of the Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo (HC-FMUSP). He holds a PhD in Medicine from FMUSP (1997). In 1996, he completed his PhD with a CNPq scholarship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), United States. He was an Adjunct Professor at the Higher School of Sciences of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória (EMESCAM) from 1998 to 2013, where he coordinated the extension projects in Headaches (2003-2013) and Multiple Sclerosis (2007-2013), focused on teaching, assistance, and clinical research. He coordinated the CNPq research group - Multidisciplinary Group for Studies on Chronic Diseases of the Nervous System - in Espírito Santo from 1999 until 2013. He was a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Neurosciences at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) from 2008 to 2018, having supervised 5 master's and 3 doctoral theses. He was an associate editor of the journal Arquivos de Neuropsiquiatria from 2013 to 2018. He completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurology at the Cerebrovascular Diseases Service of the University of Lille, France, from January to December 2014, with a CAPES scholarship. He has been a scientific advisor for the Senne Líquor Diagnóstico laboratory in São Paulo, SP, since 2015. He is the coordinator of the Headache Service and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo.
