Alexandre Remuzzi Ficagna

Born in 1983 in Realeza, a small town in the interior of Paraná, Brazil, he is a composer, professor, and researcher. He holds a degree in Music Education from the State University of Londrina (UEL) and a masters and doctorate in Music/Creative Processes from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Currently, he is an associate professor in the Department of Music and Theater at UEL.He coordinates the research project in musical composition titled The Impropriety of Musical Composition in the Aesthetic Regime: An Analytical and Compositional Study Based on the Concepts of 'Pensive Image' and 'Literary Disturbance' by Jacques Rancière. He also leads the extension project Braiding the Cord: Invention and Performance with Carnival Marchinhas. His works have been premiered in various cities across Brazil, including Londrina, Foz do Iguaçu, Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, and Natal. In 2012, his piece Estudo, for clarinet quartet, was premiered at the I International Chamber Music Meeting in Évora, Portugal. In the same year, he contributed to the collection of didactic pieces Violoncelo XXI with the duet Ligetianina. In 2013, he received an honorable mention at the G.E.R.M.I. Prize for his piece Escondido num ponto. He was awarded the Funarte Prize for Classical Composition in 2010 and 2014. In 2016, his piece Inquietações was recorded on the album Brazilian Solo Clarinet, by Jairo Wilkens, to whom it is dedicated. He was one of 12 Latin Americans selected for the Germina.Cciones Residency in Chile 2019, directed by Luca Belcastro. In addition to Wilkens, his works have been performed by Abstrai Ensemble, Fábio Prèsgrave, Fabrício Ribeiro, the State University of Londrina Orchestra (OSUEL), and in collaboration with mut657, a Londrina-based quartet dedicated to free jazz and free improvisation.
