Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Junior is a physician, neurosurgeon, and Professor of FMUSP-2026 term. He has a solid academic and scientific career in the field of Neurosurgery, combining teaching, research, and university management activities. He graduated in MEDICINE from the Ribeirão Preto Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in 1983, where he also completed his Medical Residency in Neurosurgery in 1987. In 1992, he completed an Advanced Training internship at the CENTRE MÉDICO-CHIRURGICAL FOCH in Paris, France, with an emphasis on advanced surgical techniques. He obtained his MASTER'S (1993) and DOCTORAL (1998) degrees in surgery from FMRP-USP, developing relevant studies in applied neurosciences. Between 1998 and 1999, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Brain Tumor Research Center of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, consolidating her work in experimental and translational neuro-oncology. In 2004, she obtained the title of Associate Professor (Livre-Docente) from FMRP-USP, with the work entitled ''Role of monitoring with foramen ovale electrodes in the investigation of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy,'' a reference in the area of #8203;#8203;surgical epilepsy. He was appointed Full Professor at the Ribeirão Preto Faculty of Medicine of USP in 2014 and subsequently transferred as Full Professor to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FM-USP), Neurosurgery Division of the Department of Neurology, a position he has held since 2023. In the area of #8203;#8203;clinical care and hospital management, he serves as Head of the Neurosurgery Service at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP and coordinates the Neurosurgery Research Laboratory (LIM-62), a national reference in experimental and clinical studies on brain tumors and epilepsy. In recognition of his outstanding academic and scientific contribution, he was appointed, in October 2025, a member of the Superior Council of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). He is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow Level 1B, demonstrating his leadership and excellence in scientific research. His intellectual output is extensive and of international impact, with 238 articles published in specialized journals, in which he acts as author and/or co-author. He participates in international research consortia, such as TCGA, MAGIC, and Meningiomas, focused on the study of tumors of the central nervous system. He has an h-index of 68 on Google Scholar and 66 on Scopus, reflecting the significant scientific impact of his work. In academic management, he was Director of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at USP between 2013 and 2016. He was Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies at USP from 2016 to 2018 and again from 2018 to 2021. He was Rector of USP from January 2022 to January 2026. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
