Graduated in Biological Sciences (Bachelor in Genetics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990) and PhD in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1997). He completed a sandwich doctorate at Harvard University-USA (1992-1996). She is currently a Researcher at Fundação Oswaldo Cruz/BA and Coordinator of the Laboratory of Tissue Engineering and Immunopharmacology (LETI). She is a Professor at the Technological Institute in Health of Senai/Cimatec. She is a founding partner and was president of the Brazilian Association of Cell and Gene Therapy (ABTCEL-GEN). Member of the ANVISA Technical Advisory Board in the area of #8203;#8203;advanced therapies. She is a member of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and of the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy (ISCT), of which she is vice-president-elect of the Central and South America region. She is a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), the Bahia Academy of Sciences and Sigma Xi. Member of the Bahia State Health Council. He has experience in the areas of Immunology, Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine, working mainly on the following subjects: immunopathology and immunomodulation, advanced therapies, stem cells and pharmacology of natural and synthetic products.
