He is a professor in the Department of Demography at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and a researcher at the Elza Berquó Center for Population Studies (NEPO), also affiliated with UNICAMP. He holds a bachelors degree in Social Sciences, with an emphasis on Sociology and Political Science, from UNICAMP (2011), where he also obtained a Masters (2014) and Ph.D. (2018) in Demography. During his Ph.D., he completed a research internship at the Harvard School of Public Health in the United States. From 2018 to 2021, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (USP), and from 2021 to 2024, he held a postdoctoral position at the Center for Environmental Studies and Research (NEPAM) at UNICAMP. His studies have been supported by scholarships from various institutions, including CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH-USA). His research areas include data for demographic studies, surveys, population and environment, urbanization and living conditions, social and environmental determinants of health (dengue and malaria), and energy. He is the editor of Revista Idéias (IFCH-UNICAMP). He was co-editor of the Revista Brasileira de Estudos de População (REBEP), affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Population Studies (ABEP) between 2021 and 2024.
