Raquel de Oliveira Souza

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF, 2021) with a technical degree in Pharmacy from SENAC-RJ (2013), Raquel has a multidisciplinary research background in immunology, microbiology, parasitology, and botany.From 2017 to 2018, she began her research experience in phytochemistry and pharmacobotany. In 2018, she joined the Department of Molecular Biology at UFF, where she conducted studies on the parasite-host interaction using Trypanosoma cruzi and Trypanosoma rangeli protozoa and their vector, Rhodnius prolixus.Between 2018 and 2019, she worked at LIDIG-UFF on projects focused on the immunology of infectious diseases, with an emphasis on fetal-maternal microchimerism. From 2019 to 2021, she was a PIBIC/CNPq scholar at LATEV-Fiocruz and LACIFF-IFF, contributing to the development of a high-performance biological assay platform for flavivirus diagnosis, a project that became the focus of her thesis.During the pandemic, she participated in technical training in microbiology at the Scientific Platform Pasteur USP (SPPU) on the project "Integrated Strategy for the Study of Infectious Agents Causing Emerging and/or Neglected Diseases Transmitted by Global Impact Vectors," funded by FAPESP.Raquel is currently a Master's student in Science at the University of São Paulo (USP, 2025), focusing on Host-Pathogen Interaction Biology, with a project funded by FAPESP studying the modulation of humoral and cellular immune responses induced by Mayaro and Chikungunya viruses in co-infected mice.In addition, she is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems (Unifatecie) and a Teaching degree in Chemistry (UniBF), expanding her academic background to integrate knowledge from both biological and exact sciences.
