Fernanda Almeida de Oliveira has awarded the bachelor degree in Nutrition at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2012. After, she begins to work at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) as an assistant technician with mycotoxins investigation on food. Once she decided to move on to a different line of research she went to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro were she was admitted at the Masters program at the Medical Biochemistry Institute Leopoldo de Meis. Her dissertation titled was Validation of reference genes in obese mice adipose tissues and it was defended in 2016. This title also represents a publication in a scientific journal in which Miss Almeida-Oliveira is the first author. At this same year she has begun her doctoral program at the same institute. At the present time, she is developing a research in the metabolic diseases field using alternative models to identify possible pharmacological targets to treat obesity. She has a large experience in some techniques like Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR and RT-qPCR), quantification of proteins, triglicerydes, thealose and glucose in different animal tissues and experimental insect handle, especially kissing bug (Rhodnius prolixus) and the red bug flour (Tribolium castaneum).
