Birthplace: Brazil

Laureate of the "For Women in Science" programme in 2021, awarded in the Life Sciences category, L'Oréal Brasil, in partnership with UNESCO in Brazil and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC). Currently joined as Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), coordinator of Laboratory of Intervention Ecology (LEI/UFMS), contributing to the Plant Biology (master) and Conservation and Ecology (master and PhD) Postgraduate Programs. I have interest in the application of scientific findings for decision-making. Particularly concerning biologic, socioeconomic, political, and legal aspects of environmental planning within the scope of Restoration and Intervention Ecology.Ive completed my BS in Biology at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil with Honours in Ecology followed by a Master in Ecology, Conservation, and Management, supervised by José Pires de Lemos-Filho, focusing on the following subjects: monitoring plant phenology and seed germination in undisturbed areas of ironstone outcrops and in mining restoration area. Ive concluded my PhD in the Plant Biology Program at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil, working on monitoring the effects of forest restoration analysed via plant functional groups, functional diversity, plant phenology, forest structure, canopy light interception, as well as focusing on a critical analysis of environmental law, supervised by Ricardo Ribeiro Rodrigues and Flavio A. Mäes dos Santos. During this time, I did a six month PhD exchange at the University of Western Australia, in the Ecosystem Restoration Intervention Ecology Research Group, supervised by Richard Hobbs. In 2012, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Reference Center on Environmental Information (CRIA), working with Townsend Peterson on the subjects: digital accessible knowledge, primary biodiversity data, inventory completeness, conservation status, and ecological niche modelling. Ive worked at The Nature Conservancys Latin America region as a Restoration Specialist in the Atlantic Forest and Central Savannas Conservation Program, coordinating projects and monitoring restoration in the region of AFCS, as well as collaborating with the academic community. I was Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) from 2014 to 2016. Featured Academic Scientific Research recognized by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level (CAPES) in 2022. Commendation Paulo Nogueira Neto medal of the Biology Council in 2024.Contact: garcialcbio@yahoo.com.brOrcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3081-8973Scopus Author ID: 55802153700 ResearcherID: I-4040-2012 (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
