Abstract
Malaria in pregnancy is characterized by the presence of Plasmodium spp. in maternal circulation, being one of the main causes of mortality in tropical regions, causing maternal anemia, abortion, premature birth, low birth weight, and Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR).
