Matheus de Souza Gomes

Prof. Dr. Matheus de Souza Gomes holds undergraduate degrees in Pharmacy and Information Systems, as well as a Master's and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Molecular Biology. He completed a sandwich Ph.D. internship at the National University of Ireland Galway, in the Laboratory of Genetics and Biotechnology Centre for Chromosome Biology, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Charles Spillane. He was a faculty member at the Federal University of Ouro Preto and is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biotechnology at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). He has held the positions of Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Biotechnology, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology, and Advisor to the Rector at the UFU Patos de Minas Campus. He is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Programs in Genetics and Biochemistry and in Biotechnology. His expertise lies in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, and Biochemistry. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including Biochemistry, Biomolecular Analysis and Modeling, and Bioinformatics. He currently coordinates the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Molecular Analyses (LBAM) at the Institute of Biotechnology at UFU, Patos de Minas Campus. He is also a member of the Biological Sciences and Biotechnology Chamber of FAPEMIG for the 2025-2027 term. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
