José Soares de Andrade Júnior is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), a Member of the Graduate Program in Physics at UFC (rated level 7 by CAPES), a Level 1A Research Fellow at CNPq, and a Permanent Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He served as the Pro-Rector for International Relations at UFC (2017-2019). He holds a master's and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco. He has experience in the fields of Statistical Physics, Computational Physics, and Complex Systems, mainly working on the following topics: complex networks, percolation theory, fractals, critical phenomena and phase transitions, transport phenomena in irregular and disordered systems, computational fluid dynamics, diffusion and flow in porous media, pulmonary physiology, fragmentation, fracture formation, and the science of cities. To date, he has supervised 19 doctoral theses and 13 master's dissertations. He is part of the Editorial Board of four indexed international scientific journals, namely Fractals, International Journal of Modern Physics C (IJMPC), Applied Network Science, and Brazilian Journal of Physics. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Frontiers in Physics in the specialty of Mathematical and Statistical Physics. He has delivered lectures as an Invited Speaker at 31 international conferences. He coordinates and has coordinated several research projects, including 2 PRONEX projects funded by CNPq and FUNCAP and 1 CAPES-PRINT project. He served as a Full Member of the CNPq Physics and Astronomy Advisory Committee (2007-2009). He was a Visiting Scholar at Boston University, USA (2000-2001), and a Visiting Professor (Gastprofessor) at ETH-Zurich, Switzerland, in 2010. Throughout his career, he has published 221 scientific articles in indexed journals, including 1 in Nature, 1 in Nature Physics, 1 in Nature Communications, 6 in PNAS, 1 in Physical Review X, 26 in Physical Review Letters, 15 in Scientific Reports, and 57 in Physical Review E. He has also published 17 full conference papers in indexed journals. All these works have accumulated a total of 8546 citations on Web of Science and 13166 citations on Google Scholar.
