Paulo Roberto Gonçalves-Segundo obtained his Bachelor's degree in Portuguese Language and Literature from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, where he also completed his doctorate, defending a thesis titled "Tradition, Dynamism, and Stability in Discursive Practices: A Study of Intersubjective Negotiation in the São Paulo Press" (DOI: 10.11606/T.8.2011.tde-25042012-161141) in 2011. Since 2013, he has worked as a Full-time Adjunct Professor at the Department of Classical and Vernacular Languages and Literature at the University of São Paulo (USP). In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising master's and doctoral research, and coordinating subprojects in the field of Portuguese language under PIBID and PRP, Paulo Roberto Gonçalves-Segundo leads the research group NEAC - Nucleus of Studies in Critical Discourse Analysis. He is also a member of the ELAD - Studies in Language, Argumentation, and Discourse, SAL - Systemics, Environments, and Languages groups, as well as the ANPOLL GT on Argumentation. He serves as a co-editor of the Electronic Journal of Integrated Studies in Discourse and Argumentation and is the editor-in-chief of the Linha DÁgua Journal. Currently, he is working on two research projects: "Grammar, Cognition, and Discourse" and "Project DIA - Discourse, Interaction, and Argumentation in Digital Media." Paulo Roberto Gonçalves Segundo has authored numerous articles and book chapters and has organized books in the areas of Discursive Studies, Cognitive Linguistics, Systemic-Functional Linguistics, Social Semiotics, and Argumentation Theory. From September 2017 to August 2019, he was the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Philology and Portuguese Language at the University of São Paulo (USP). Between September 2022 and February 2023, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Porto, Portugal, funded by the CAPES-PrInt program.
