Abstract
The genus Acanthostachys (Bromeliaceae) is monophyletic and comprises only three species, A. pitcairnioides, A. strobilacea and A. calcicola. Adult plants of these species withstand adverse conditions due to the presence of drought adaptations such as succulence, absorptive leaf trichomes, and CAM metabolism.
