Nathalia Cristina Costa do Nascimento

Professor in the Department of Forest Sciences at the School of Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). Holds a teaching and bachelor's degree in Geography, a Master's in Natural Resource Management and Local Development, and a Ph.D. in Earth System Science from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). She has served as a professor at the Metropolitan College of the Amazon; deputy director of the Directorate of Environmental Studies and Research at the Institute for Economic, Social, and Environmental Development of Pará (IDESP). She has been a scientific consultant on International Projects and the technical-scientific secretary of the Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA). She was a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) and the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of São Paulo (IEA/USP). She is a specialist in mapping, modeling, and analyses of socio-environmental systems, especially the interaction between environmental public policies, land use dynamics, and spatial modeling in different biomes of Brazil. She has a particular interest in decision-making processes and environmental governance, agent-based modeling, and the impacts of land use changes on the provision of ecosystem services. Currently, she conducts research focused on the interaction between public policies, climate change, and forest restoration, adopting methodologies that integrate qualitative and quantitative methods and spatially explicit models.
