Saulo Philipe Sebastião Guerra holds a degree in Forest Engineering from São Paulo State University (UNESP) Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2000), a master's degree in Agronomy (Energy in Agriculture) obtained in 2003, and a Ph.D. in Agronomy (Energy in Agriculture) from the same institution, completed in 2006. He conducted postdoctoral research at The University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center in 2010.He is currently an Associate Professor at UNESP, in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FCA), Department of Rural Engineering and Socioeconomics. He coordinates the LABB Agroforestry Biomass and Bioenergy Laboratory (FCA/UNESP), which is affiliated with the Bioenergy Research Institute (IPBEN). He is also an Associate Researcher at Nelson Mandela University (South Africa), where he works in the fields of forestry mechanisation and eucalyptus plantation management.He served as Director of the Foundation for Agricultural and Forestry Studies and Research (FEPAF) from 2010 to 2012, and as Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Forest Engineering (FCA/UNESP) from 2012 to 2018 during which time the program was ranked among the top five in Brazil for the first and only time.Since 2016, he has held the position of Scientific Leader of the Cooperative Program on Forestry Mechanization and Automation (PCMAF), part of the Institute for Forest Research and Studies (IPEF). He is currently the Director of the UNESP Innovation Agency (AUIN), which was ranked as the top university in the world in 2025 by the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, specifically for SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and was the national champion for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025).
