Beatriz Maria Poletti de Melo

Graduated in Medicine from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in 2023, with notable participation in scientific, academic, and cultural activities. She was awarded two Scientific Initiation scholarships. The first, funded by FAPESP, was conducted in the Department of Clinical Neurology, focusing on the correlation between CAG trinucleotide expansion in ATXN2 and the age of symptom onset in spinocerebellar ataxia type 3, under the supervision of Prof. Wilson Marques Júnior. The second, funded by CNPq, was conducted in the Department of Pediatrics and Childcare, investigating the long-term follow-up of patients post-surgery for atrioventricular septal defect, under the supervision of Prof. Paulo Henrique Manso. This project was presented at the 29th International Symposium of Scientific and Technological Initiation of USP (SIICUSP) in 2021.In 2019, she served as the Director of Fixed Members at the Academic League of Pediatrics and Childcare (LAPED-FMRP-USP), organizing academic and outreach activities. During her undergraduate studies, she was also part of the Hélio Lourenço de Oliveira Administration of the Academic Center Rocha Lima (CARL) as the Director of the Cultural Department, leading the organization of traditional events such as ShowMedicina, art contests, and integrative activities.She was an active member of the universitys sports scene, playing for the FMRP-USP womens basketball team from 2018 to 2023, and served as an academic representative on the Council of the Department of Pediatrics (2020-2021). Before starting her medical degree, she completed high school at Colégio Luiz de Queiroz (Piracicaba-SP) and the Texas Tech University High School program in the United States in 2015.
