Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto (FCFRP)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Pharmacist graduated from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT, 2018), with a specialization in Higher Education Teaching (FAVENI), a Masters degree in Environmental Sciences (PPGCAM/UFMT), and currently a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto at the University of São Paulo (FCFRP/USP). His doctoral research focuses on the development of liquid-crystalline nanodispersions for mRNA delivery, with emphasis on gene vaccination, working at the intersection of pharmaceutical nanotechnology, gene therapy, and applied biotechnology. During his undergraduate studies, he began his scientific journey by investigating bioactive metabolite bioprospecting from toads of the Bufonidae family (2012), followed by research on antifungal activity and phytoalexin induction from nanoengineered toad venom extracts (2018). His masters work involved the design of microemulsion systems containing plant extracts to assess their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Currently, his Ph.D. project is centered on the rational design of non-viral formulations for intracellular RNA delivery, particularly liquid-crystalline systems incorporating cationic and ionizable lipids. He has authored or co-authored over 10 peer-reviewed international publications and has presented more than 40 scientific communications at national and international conferences, earning six awards for outstanding scientific contributions. Bryan is actively involved in the global scientific community. He serves as a member of the Young Scientist Committee of the Controlled Release Society (CRS, 2024 to 2027), the Youth Committee of the CRS Brazilian Local Chapter (20242026), USP Open Science Ambassador (2024 to 2025), and Academic Representative of the Gene Delivery and Gene Editing (GDGE) Focus Group (2024 to 2026). He is also an affiliated member of the CRS and its Brazilian Chapter. He has experience in project management and coordination, grant proposal writing, and scholarship monitoring. His technical expertise includes: Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology: development and characterization of drug and gene delivery systems such as RNA (SAXS, DLS, Cryo-TEM, NTA); Lyophilization: experience in the freeze-drying of nanostructured systems; Microfluidics: nanoparticle synthesis and RNA/drug encapsulation using microfluidic systems; Molecular and Cell Biology: gel electrophoresis assays, mRNA-mediated protein expression (in vitro/in vivo), cellular uptake, apoptosis, cell cycle, proliferation, cytotoxicity, and super-resolution confocal microscopy; Flow Cytometry: evaluation of immune responses; In Vivo Assays: fluorescence-based biodistribution and protein expression (luciferase and vaccine antigens) using IVIS, treatment administration, organ collection and processing, murine model handling, and basic surgical procedures. His primary focus lies in applying nanobiotechnology for the efficient delivery of therapeutic RNA, particularly mRNA encoding vaccine antigens, to elicit immune responses against emerging pathogens. He seeks multidisciplinary collaborations to develop innovative solutions in gene vaccination, cellular therapy, and controlled biomolecule release.Contact: bryanwender@usp.br (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
