Delson de Matos Gomes

Founder and instructor at the Escola de Efeitos Especiais (School of Special Effects), the first institution in Brazil exclusively dedicated to the teaching of special effects. I hold a Specialist, Masters, and PhD degree in Audiovisual Communication, and have been working as a filmmaker, professor, and researcher since 2017.As an academic researcher, I have developed studies on cinematic silence in the westerns of Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood, as well as the representation of religiosity in apocalyptic disaster films from the 1980s to the 2000s.As an educator, I have taught in undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of Cinema and Audiovisual Studies, Advertising, Design, and Game Development, contributing to the development of syllabi and educational materials for higher education institutions in the state of São Paulo.At the School of Special Effects, I have created four original courses and currently lead the development of new programs in collaboration with other industry professionals. I also promote workshops and training programs across different regions of Brazil, through partnerships with publicly funded cultural projects, Sesc units, film festivals, and other audiovisual initiatives.As a filmmaker, I have directed works featuring actors such as Christian Malheiros and worked as a practical special effects specialist in projects alongside professionals like Henri Castelli. My independent productions are part of the Brazilian film market, and I maintain an ongoing practice of integrating artificial intelligence technologies into audiovisual production.In addition, I work as a digital strategist, developing campaigns and solutions in digital marketing, with Meta Certification in Digital Marketing and Google UX Design Certification.Currently, I am dedicated to the cataloging, definition, and systematization of over ten typologies of special effects, as well as the production of unpublished courses and books on the subject. This is a pioneering global initiative aimed at organizing and democratizing technical and creative knowledge in the field of special effects in an accessible, educational, and professional manner.
