CV Lattes ORCID

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas (ICB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Nathalia Rammé Medeiros de Albuquerque has a bachelor's degree in Biomedicine (2017) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where she also obtained a PhD (2022) in Genetics and Molecular Biology. Nathalia has a great interest in parasites and how their genomes evolve, how they conquer new niches and infect different hosts. In her PhD, she characterized the genome and described a new species of microsporidia, an obligate intracellular parasite related to fungi, and used genomic metrics to delimit species of these parasites. She completed a research internship in Computational Biology at the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA (2020). She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Parasitology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo (ICBII-USP). In her project, she uses genomic data to investigate the founding events and subsequent evolution of parasites that cause human malaria on the American continent. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
