Cássia Carrascoza Bomfim

Doctor in Arts: Musicology, Master in Arts: Processes of Musical Creation, Bachelor in Music with a focus on Flute, all from the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (USP). Professor in the Music Department at FFCLRP-USP, where she coordinates LaFlauta Flute Laboratory. She was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Riverside between 2021 and 2024, where she worked on telematic music and technology-mediated performance. She regularly performs virtually with different transnational musical groups and publishes regularly on this subject. She coordinates the Telematic Ensemble LaFlauta, a group focused on distance chamber music, composed by undergraduate students from the Music Department, with participation from international guests. She conducts research in the field of Performance Science and related areas. She performs as a soloist with orchestras, as a chamber musician, and has dedicated over 20 years to the promotion and dissemination of Brazilian contemporary music, having received numerous works dedicated to her. She was the principal flutist of the São Paulo Municipal Theater Symphony Orchestra and the São Paulo State Jazz Symphony Orchestra. She was also the flutist of the Camerata Aberta of the São Paulo State Music School (EMESP) and a teacher at the same institution. She has experience in the field of Arts, with an emphasis on music, working primarily on the following topics: flute, telematic music, contemporary music, improvisation, and collaborative composition. Since 2024, she has been the Director of the USP Symphony Orchestra (OSUSP).
