Jefferson Luan Crispim Rodrigues holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with a teaching focus (2016-2021) and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (2021-2022) from the Institute of Biosciences of Botucatu / São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP). He is currently a FAPESP scholarship holder in his Master's project at the same institution. He conducts research in the field of Systematics and Taxonomy of Neotropical catfish (Siluriformes: Ostariophysi), describing new species from different groups, including the families Aspredinidae, Loricariidae, and Pseudopimelodidae. His work contributes to a better understanding of the biodiversity of Neotropical fishes, as well as the biogeographic events that gave rise to the existing lineages of these groups, using integrative taxonomy techniques. He has field experience and fish identification skills in various hydrographic basins across the Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, and Amazon biomes.
