Sharine Machado Cabral Melo

I have a degree in Social Communication (Advertising) from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing - ESPM (2005), a master's degree (2010) and a PhD (2015) in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo - PUC-SP, with a sandwich scholarship at the University of Leeds (England). I'm a Cultural Administrator at Funarte SP and was the Regional Diffusion Coordinator between 2021 and 2023. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Olavo Setúbal Chair of Art, Culture and Science (Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of São Paulo) and a fellow of the São Paulo State Research Foundation - FAPESP (Process n.2022/15346-9). Since 2020, I have been working on the research project Poets in Times of Poverty: Investigations into the networking of artists and cultural professionals for the development of public policies for the sector, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Martin Grossmann and the coordination of Prof. Dr. Néstor García Canclini. As a result of this research, I wrote one of the chapters of the book Cultural Emergencies: Institutions, Creators and Communities in Brazil and Mexico, coordinated by Canclini and published in 2023 by EDUSP (in Portuguese) and Gedisa (in Spanish). Between 2016 and 2017, in partnership with Ester Moreira, I designed Funarte SP's Vozes website, having participated in the entire process of researching content and images, interviews and writing. I have already collaborated in actions of the Territory of Interest of Culture and Landscape (TICP Paulista Luz) and participated in the articulation between cultural institutions in the region of Campos Elíseos, in São Paulo. I am a member of the Research Group of the Observatory of Cultural Diversity and I am dedicated to cultural policies in Brazil. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
