Aspartate, in the presence of carbamoyl phosphate, can be converted by the enzyme Aspartate carbamoyltransferase (AspCT, EC 2.1.3.2) into Carbamoyl-L-Aspartate, a precursor for the de novo biosynthesis of pyrimidines.
