Birthplace: Brazil

I am currently engaged as a researcher in the prestigious FAPESP postdoctoral program at the Botucatu Institute of Biosciences (IBB - UNESP), where I am immersed in an exciting research project titled "Integrated Taxonomy and Genetics of Brazilian Electric Rays (Torpediniformes: Narcinidae: Narcine)." My academic focus lies at the intersection of Biodiversity Genomes and cutting-edge genomic technology. Utilizing advanced third-generation DNA sequencing techniques, I work to construct comprehensive reference genomes, which play a crucial role in addressing critical conservation and management challenges for marine organisms. My research aims to unravel the complexities of differentiating genetic fisheries stocks, accurately delineating conservation and management units, analyzing patterns of microevolution and macroevolution, and tackling pressing issues such as identifying fraudulent fishing practices and combatting the illegal trade of endangered species. In essence, I am a dedicated bioinformatics specialist, adept at designing and implementing sophisticated pipelines for the efficient processing and analysis of whole genome sequencing data. My work contributes to the broader understanding of marine biodiversity and the preservation of vulnerable species in our oceans. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
