The Class Aplacophora comprises species of molluscs with a worm-like body covered by a quitinous cuticle that shelter sclerites (or spicules) made of aragonite; they are divided in two linages: Solenogastres Gegenbaur, 1878 and Caudofoveata Boettger, 1956.
