André Fernando Garcia Cortez

André Fernando Garcia Cortez is currently studying medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, FMRP-USP, a unit of the University of São Paulo located in Ribeirão Preto. Furthermore, during 2021, André acted as a volunteer monitor for the physics discipline at Cursinho Popular da Medicina, CPM, a non-profit university extension project, founded in 2008 on the initiative of members of the Tutorial Education Program (PET) from FMRP-USP; During this same period, he served as Help Network (RA), and now as Director (2022), of the Medical Education Department, an affiliated unit of the Rocha Lima Academic Center (CARL), a student entity at FMRP-USP. André was, during 2022, a paid monitor of the discipline RCG 0212 - Structure and Function of the Nervous System (Neuroanatomy), under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Luiza da Silva Lopes; He also acted as a student representative (2021-2022) in the current curricular reform of the Medicine course at FMRP-USP, having been a scholarship holder ("New curricula for a new time: FMRP") under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Julio Cesar Moriguti at the end of 2021. As a member of the Medical Education Department, he is interested in medical education, being an engaged member of this department and, therefore, André maintains contact with the board, the organizing coordination of the medical course and with the FMRP-USP graduation committee, entities close to the which represents, together with the other directors of the Department, all students of the medical course at this faculty. He was a representative of the FMRP-USP Undergraduate Committee (CG) during the year 2022-2023. Since 2023, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. João Pereira Leite, André is a scientific initiation student at the Department of Neurosciences and Behavioral Sciences, area of concentration: neurology and neuropathology of epilepsies.
