Julio Takehiro Marumo holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with Technological Attributions from Mackenzie Presbyterian University (1986), a Master's degree in Nuclear Technology from the University of São Paulo (1997), and a Doctorate in Nuclear Technology from the University of São Paulo (2006). Since 1987, he has worked at the Radioactive Waste Center of the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN-CNEN/SP), specializing in radioactive waste management. He was the manager of the Radioactive Waste Center at IPEN for 17 years and is currently the deputy manager. Julio is actively engaged in research and development in radioactive waste characterization and treatment, supervising undergraduate and graduate students. Recently, he has been involved in the management of disused sealed sources and serves as a counterpart for an IAEA project on this topic. He has participated in projects related to CENTENA, the national repository for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, and the waste characterization for the Angra dos Reis nuclear power plant. Since 2017, he has been a member of the IAEA LABONET steering committee, an international network for radioactive waste characterization. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
