Alexandre Santos Araújo

Bachelors in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Masters in Entomology, and a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Entomology at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP). Former General Coordinator and currently Vice-Coordinator of the Study and Extension Group in Entomology and Acarology "Professor Domingos Gallo" (GALLO-e/ESALQ). During my undergraduate studies, I was a research intern at the Insect Behavioral Ecology Laboratory (LECI/UFBA), working on projects involving sexual behavior, diet formulation, and attractive baits for fruit flies. In 2019, completed an international internship at the Insect Pest Control Laboratory (FAO/International Atomic Energy Agency Seibersdorf, Austria), focusing on post-harvest phytosanitary treatments targeting key fruit fly pests. My main focus is the taxonomy of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae), integrating morphological, biological, and ecological data to advance taxonomic knowledge and support sustainable pest management strategies.
