This project is an introduction to Baker's theorem on linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and its applications in transcendental number theory. In particular, we shall study the work of Adhikari et al., which uses Baker's theorem to clarify the arithmetic nature of certain special values of Dirichilet L-series.
This project is an introduction to diophantine approximation and its applications to number theory through the study of representations of real numbers as continued fractions.
