Joice S. de Souza is a postdoctoral researcher at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), associated with the thematic project "Freshwater ecosystems under climate change: impacts across multiple levels of organisation." She holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a Master's degree in Ocean and Earth Dynamics from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO).Joice devots her time to assessing the impacts of global change (i.e., climate change, land use change, invasive species) on biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services. To achieve this, she develops projects in the fields of ecology and conservation of aquatic environments, primarily using fish and macroinvertebrates as research models. She has experience with global data syntheses (meta-analytical approach, spatial and temporal analyses), ecological niche modeling, biostatistics, and conducting experiments at various scales. Her studies often fall within the disciplines of community ecology and macroecology. Joice is a reviewer for various scientific journals such as Nature Climate Change and the Journal of Biogeography, and has also collaborated as a mentor for the Youth Climate Leaders network.
