Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Campus de Araraquara. Instituto de Química (IQ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I have Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Goiás - UFG (2000), a Masters Degree in Chemistry with a focus on Analytical Chemistry (IQ/UFG 2003), and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry at UNESP, Araraquara, specializing in Natural Products Chemistry (IQ/UNESP 2007). Postdoctoral training (IQ/UNESP 2010) in Natural Products Chemistry, specializing in chromatographic techniques, circular dichroism, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectrometry. I have experience in Chemistry with a focus on analytical instrumentation, with primary research interests that include: sample preparation via SPE; separation of secondary metabolites using the scale-up concept in LC systems, with an emphasis on highly polar substances; structural characterization/elucidation of natural compounds via spectroscopic and spectrometric methods; development of chromatographic methods for analyzing plant, biological, and environmental matrices using HPLC and related chromatographic techniques; standardization of plant extracts; characterization of plants with biological activity using direct multistage or UHPLC-coupled mass spectrometry; valorization of agro-industrial biomasses to obtain renewable agrochemicals and other bio-based inputs; and catalytic/oxidative depolymerization of industrial lignin to generate renewable aromatic compounds and/or carboxylic acids. I completed an advanced training program in Mass Spectrometry using MALDI-TOF-MS for the polymeric characterization of proanthocyanidins in plant matrices at the Center for Proteomic and Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry - Institute of Food Sciences of the National Research Council - Italy. Currently, I am a Senior Researcher at Embrapa Agroenergy, focusing on the structural characterization of natural compounds, including those with high polarity; separation of value-added chemical compounds obtained via (bio)conversion processes of lignin, xylose, and glycerol; development and application of analytical methodologies for qualitative, quantitative, and kinetic studies of chemical marker transformation/degradation in biotechnological processes; and obtaining and correlating metabolomic profiles in biomass chemistry studies focused on energy applications. I utilize waste and by-products from various agro-industrial streams as raw materials for the production of renewable agrochemicals, biostimulants, and other bio-based inputs. I have supervised over 30 scholarship holders across PIBIC, DTI, and Capes/EMBRAPA programs, including students from undergraduate research through postdoctoral fellows. My experience includes coordinating and participating in open innovation projects with private sector partners (e.g., Rhodia, Santa Clara, Demetra, CTC, Satis, AMR), as well as projects supported by BNDES and EMBRAPII (2014-2022), focused on bioeconomy and circular economy. I served as a full member of the Internal Technical Committee of Embrapa Agroenergy (07/2015 - 07/2021) and as a member of the Project Portfolio Management Committee on Energy, Chemistry, and Biomass Technology (2019-2021 term). I also held the position of coordinator/chair of the Observatory of Trends in Biofuels and Bioproducts (2016-2018), during which I contributed to implementing a big data evaluation methodology for topics of institutional interest in Embrapa Agroenergys agenda.
