Birthplace: Brazil

Thalita Ferreira da Silva obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2024 from the Institute of Chemistry at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), located on the Cidade Universitária campus. She holds a master's degree in Chemistry (2019) from the same institution and a bachelor's degree in Chemistry - Technological Chemistry (2017), also from UFMS. Her expertise encompasses the areas of Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Photocatalysis (homogeneous and heterogeneous), focusing on the following research lines: i) Nanomaterials, with an emphasis on the development of pure and doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) (boron, nitrogen, and iron), copper II oxide (CuO), zinc oxide (ZnO), and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), aiming at the development of new semiconductors and adsorbents for application in Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOPs) through methods of photocatalysis and heterogeneous photoelectrocatalysis; and ii) Development of work in the area of Chemistry and Environmental Sanitation, addressing topics such as ozonation, photo-Fenton, H2O2/UV on the benchtop and integrated into vertical flow systems such as wetlands. Additionally, she works with chromatographic analyses (HPLC/UV and HPLC/MS), total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, and acute toxicity tests (Artemia salina and Lactuca sativa), as well as material characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, FTIR, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and electrochemical analyses including linear voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, current transient, Mott-Schottky method, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
