Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Biotechnology from the Federal University of Paraíba and completed a master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at USP Ribeirão Preto (FRMP-USP). During my undergraduate studies, I worked on: 1) goat milk serum, measuring soluble proteins and identifying their peptide and protein profiles; 2) Bioprospecting for new antibiotics produced by Actinobacteria from the semi-arid region of Paraíba, involving extraction, characterization of secondary metabolites, and mining of secondary metabolites from Actinobacteria genomes using bioinformatics tools. My master's project focused on the identification and validation of new antibiotic resistance genes through functional metagenomics, utilizing data obtained from a deep learning tool called DeepArg. Additionally, I participated in collaborative projects involving the functional validation of genes resistant to oxidative stress and the identification of bacteria with functional activity against pathogenic fungi and bacteria. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at FMRP/USP. My doctoral project aims to identify microorganisms from the human intestinal microbiota that can incorporate sialic acids on their cell walls. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
