Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Centro de Biologia Molecular e Engenharia Genética (CBMEG)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Born in Videira city, Santa Catarina state, Brazil. Graduated in biotechnology, MBA in Agribusiness, master in agronomy, and PhD in phytopathology. He held a post-doctorate and provided scientific consultancy from 2015 to 2022 at Embrapa Agroenergy and Embrapa CENARGEN (Brasília, DF), working in plant biotechnology and molecular biology. From 2020 to 2021 he worked as a researcher and coordinator of the plant biotechnology laboratory at IMAmt. From 2022 to 2023 he worked with genome editing of tomatoes, lentil, and chickpea at Università degli Studi di Firenze, Firenze, Italy. From May 2023, he worked with research in plant biotechnology and molecular biology at Embrapa Cenargen. Currently, since August 2024, he is developing research in maize biotechnology and molecular biology (vector preparation, genome editing, and genotyping) at GCCRC, Campinas, SP. Has expertise in (i) plant-pathogen interaction (molecular phytopathology, serological and molecular detection, molecular identification, molecular biology of interaction and greenhouse bioassays), (ii) molecular biology of plants (genes, promoters, genome, transcriptome, epigenetics, interfering RNA, binary vectors, plant transformation via Agrobacterium sp. and biobalistics, molecular and phenotypic characterization of transgenic events, prospecting for molecules of biotechnological interest for use in plants, abiotic and biotic stresses), (iii) genome editing of plants (optimization of editing systems via CRISPR/Cas9 SDN1 to SDN3, binary vectors, genome editing, identification of edited targets, molecular and phenotypic characterization of edited plants), (iv) plant biotechnology (in vitro plant tissue culture, optimization of transformation or cultivation protocols, establishment of infrastructure and laboratory management), (v) fundamental in molecular biology (ELISA, PCR, real-time PCR, molecular markers, DNA and protein electrophoresis and basic bioinformatics), (vi) PDI (elaboration of research and development projects, review of related documents, documents for publishing technical data, technical reports, data presentation, courses, lectures and training), (vii) biosafety (implementation and management of CIBio, regulation of activations together with CTNBio, LPMA, management of regulated activities), (viii) understanding industrial property and patents, and (ix) agribusiness (production chains, disruptive technologies, and new directions in Brazilian agribusiness). Author/co-author of 55 scientific articles, eight book chapters, two patents, ad-hoc for research funding agencies, reviewer of more than 30 international scientific journals, and scientific editor of the Agronomy (MDPI) and Plant Molecular Biology Reporter journals.
