Mirella Whiteman is a Ph.D. candidate and holds a Master's degree (2024) in Applied Linguistics and Language Studies from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. She was a CAPES Master's scholarship recipient (project 'Pandemic Impacts', 88887.657822/2021-00) and is currently a FAPESP doctoral scholarship holder (project "Multidimensional Analysis of Language, Discourse and Society", 2022/05848-7). Her research on the dissemination of disinformation discourses on social media has been featured at international conferences in England (CL 2023, Lancaster University), Portugal (DDHUM 2023, University of Minho) and the United States (AACL 2024, University of Oregon). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication from São Paulo State University (2001) and an MBA in Marketing from Getúlio Vargas Foundation (2012). She is a member of the Corpus Linguistics Study Group GELC (CNPq) and an Editorial Assistant of the DELTA journal, dedicated to all fields of study related to language. She has 15 years of experience as a public relations professional and worked for 6 years as a professor of Integrated Marketing Communications and Executive Production at the Istituto Europeo di Design (2018-2024).
