Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC). Centro de Ciências Naturais e Humanas (CCNH) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Center for Natural and Human Sciences at the Federal University of ABC (CCNH-UFABC), working in Biotechnology with a focus on Synthetic Biology. Her expertise includes the design, assembly, and validation of genetic circuits in cell-free systems and biological models, primarily prokaryotes. She earned her Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biotechnologies Applied to Pharmacy from UNESP Araraquara, specializing in Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology. At this institution, she developed and validated synthetic non-coding RNAs for gene editing and gene expression regulation. She completed a research internship as a visiting Ph.D. student at the Microbiology Laboratory of Hochschule Mannheim, Germany (20182019), supported by CNPq/DAAD, and later concluded her postdoctoral research at UNESP Araraquara, where she worked on the development of genetic circuits applied to biosensors for diagnosing microRNA-associated diseases. She is the lead researcher of the SynBio UFABC research group, which is part of the Brazilian Network of Synthetic Biology, conducting research in the following areas: Synthetic Biology applied to metabolic engineering of prokaryotes, biosensors based on synthetic genetic circuits, and the construction and validation of circuits for gene expression regulation. Her technical expertise includes molecular biology, genetic engineering, and microbiology techniques, such as molecular cloning, in vitro DNA assembly, fluorescence and luminescence assays, and in vitro and in vivo functional analysis of genetic circuits, among others.
