My academic career began in 1987 at the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA), where I remain. I was accredited in the Entomology/INPA graduate school in 1998 and coordinated this course from 1999 to 2001 and 2023 to the present. I was a member of the Biodiversity Coordination Council from 2015 to 2024, member of the Institutional Training Program Committee from 2008-present and president of the Zoology Committee (invertebrates) of the Institutional Scientific Initiation Program from 2019 to 2024. I am a member of the Scientific Committee of Franco-Brazilian Center for Biodiversity in the Amazonia - 2024-2025/ MCTI/ CNPq, I was a member of the Zoology Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2010 and of the Ecology and Limnology Advisory Committee from 2020 to 2023; I was a member of the judging committee for the CNPq photography competition in 2019, 2020, and 2022, and of the expert committee for nominating candidates for the Almirante Álvaro Alberto/CNPq award (2014). At CAPES, I participated in two quadrennial evaluations of postgraduate courses in Brazil in 2017 and 2022. At CNPq and CAPES, I evaluated numerous research projects. I am a CNPq research fellow (1A, since 2015) and have coordinated several projects funded by CNPq and FAPEAM throughout my career, including research and science outreach projects. I coordinated two projects of the Fulbright Foundation/CNPq and CAPES, visiting American researchers in 2005 Dr. Richard Merritt and in 2018 Dr. Andrew Short. I have published 309 articles, 42 book chapters, and 15 books throughout my career. I have advised/co-advised 47 master's students, 25 doctoral students, 97 undergraduate students, and 114 fellows in other modalities, and advised 27 postdoctoral fellows. Between 1993 and 2024, I received 13 honorable mentions as an institutional advisor for a scientific initiation program. From INPA, in 2018, I received the Warwick Estevam Kerr honorable mention for my performance in graduate school. In 2019, I received the diploma of honor for services rendered to Manaus society in the area of #8203;#8203; Biology from the City Council of Manaus, AM. In 2023, I was awarded the National Order of Scientific Merit - Commander Class by MCTI. In 2024, I became a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. In 2025, I was honored with Dr. Jorge Nessimian at the VII Neotropical Aquatic Insects Symposium. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
