CENTRO CIENCIAS QUIMICAS FARMACEUTICAS ALIMENTOS/UFPEL  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry Education (2008), a master's degree (2009), and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences: Toxicological Biochemistry (2012) from the Federal University of Santa Maria. During her training, she focused on preclinical studies of organic selenium molecules with significant antioxidant potential in different animal models (nociception, inflammation, hepatotoxicity, anxiety, depression, seizures, dementia, neurodegenerative diseases, and aging). She began her professional activities at the Regional Integrated University of Alto Uruguai e das Missões in 2012. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the Center for Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Food Sciences (CCQFA) at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). She served as Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Bioprospecting (PPGBBio) at UFPel from 2015 to 2020 and was the Head of the Central Animal Facility at UFPel from 2018 to 2020. Additionally, from 2020 to 2022, she was the Coordinator of PPGBBio at UFPel. She coordinates the Biochemical Pharmacology Research Laboratory (LaFarBio) at CCQFA-UFPel and is a member of the Neurobiotechnology Research Group. She also leads the Coordination of Agreements and Contracts under the Office of Innovation and Interinstitutional Development at UFPel. She serves as a member of the advisory committee for the Biological Sciences area at FAPERGS and is an affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in the Biological Sciences area (2023-2027). She develops projects aiming to elucidate the involvement of antioxidant enzymes and risk factors (aging, stress, obesity, etc.) in pain and inflammatory diseases, as well as to prospect new synthetic molecules/biomaterials as therapeutic strategies. She leads technological and scientific innovation projects focused on developing new treatments for pain and skin injuries (atopic dermatitis, diabetic wounds, etc.) through cooperation agreements with foreign companies (Australia and the USA). She was the recipient of the 2018 "For Women in Science" award granted by L'Oréal in partnership with UNESCO and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
