Jaime A. Lozano is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (EMC) of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianópolis, Brazil, associated to the POLO Laboratories, where he conducts research in Thermal Sciences and Engineering, with emphasis on Emerging Cooling Technologies, Thermal Management, Magnetic Circuits and Hydrogen Technologies. He is an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC). He was the winner of the CAPES Thesis Award for the best Ph.D. Thesis defended in 2015 in the area of Engineering III in Brazil. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Los Andes University (UniAndes) in Bogotá, Colombia (2007), a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering with focus on Metals from UFSC in Florianopolis, Brazil (2009) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with focus on Thermal Sciences and Engineering from UFSC in Florianopolis, Brazil (2015). He has worked as a Technical Research Project Supervisor (2018-2023) and as a Post-Doctoral Researcher (2015-2018) both at the POLO Laboratories at UFSC. He performed a Ph.D.'s internship at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Denmark (2012) and a Master's internship at the Delft University of Technology (TUDelft) in The Netherlands (2009). He has experience in Mechanical, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, with an emphasis on Thermal Sciences and Engineering and Magnetic Materials, working mainly on Emerging Cooling Technologies, Magnetic Refrigeration, Thermodynamics, Product Development, Project Management, Magnetic Circuits, Injection Powder Molding, Magnetism and Synthesis and Characterization of Magnetic and Magnetocaloric Materials.
