Luiza Araújo Gusmão

Chemistry PhD at the University of São Paulo (FFCLRP - USP), working on the study of quantum dots applied to phototherapy and photodiagnosis of neurological diseases. She completed a 1-year international internship in partnership with the Institute of Zoology at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, under the guidance of Prof Dr Reinhard W. Köster, evaluating the toxicity and diagnostic capacity of quantum dots and compounds containing quantum dots in neurodegenerative diseases, using zebrafish as an in vivo experimental model. She holds a Master's degree in Science (Organic and Biological Chemistry - 2019) from the São Carlos Chemistry Institute of the University of São Paulo and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Uberlândia (2017).She has scientific experience in Chemistry, working mainly on the following topics: nanomaterials, photodynamic therapy, formation of inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins and photochemical characterisations. She also has practical experience with cell cultivation and maintenance, cell analysis by fluorescence microscopy, spectroscopic techniques and scanning electron microscopy.
