Filipe Vieira de Melo Monteiro

Holds a degree in Physics Education from the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE) and a master's and doctorate in Astronomy from the Observatório Nacional (ON). He was a postdoctoral fellow with the Programa de Capacitação Institucional (PCI/ON) and a FAPERJ Nota 10 postdoctoral fellow, being part of the Grupo de Ciências Planetárias and the IMPACTON project team at ON between 2020 and 2024. At the end of 2024, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratório Nacional de Astrofísica (LNA/MCTI), contributing to the development team of the SPARC4 instrument pipeline.In 2023, he was honored by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) with the naming of asteroid (34586) Filipemonteiro. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), working with the Grupo de Dinâmica Orbital e Planetologia (GDOP).He is a member of the Sociedade Astronômica Brasileira (SAB). He has experience in Astronomy, with a focus on Solar System Astrophysics, mainly in the following topics: physical properties of small Solar System bodies; photometry and polarimetry of small bodies; origin and evolution of near-Earth asteroids; physical characterization and formation of binary asteroids; and asteroid mineralogy and its correspondence with meteorites.
