Lucas Máximo de Oliveira Moreira

I have diverse research experience in laboratories affiliated with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) and the Institute of Biosciences (IB) at the University of São Paulo. From 2019 to 2021, I worked in the Department of Pharmacology at ICB-USP, participating in projects focused on the evaluation of novel pharmacological agents of animal origin. My work involved assessing compounds with anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive potential in animal models of acute inflammation and peripheral pain.From 2022 to 2023, I was involved in a basic research project in the Department of Physiology at IB-USP, investigating the role of local melatonin production in the bone marrow and its association with negative prognostic factors in patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This project was based on the analysis of publicly available data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).Between 2023 and 2024, I joined the Department of Immunology at ICB-USP, where I developed a project aimed at standardizing the primary culture of kidney cells from zebrafish (Danio rerio) as an in vitro model of acute kidney injury.Finally, I am currently conducting undergraduate research in the Department of Physiology at IB-USP, with funding from FAPESP. The project investigates the effects of a primary stressor (extreme heat) on the response to a secondary stressor (immune challenge) in frogs (Rhinella diptycha).These research experiences have allowed me to present my work at several editions of the International Symposium on Scientific Initiation at the University of São Paulo, both in its national and international sessions. In 2021, I was awarded 2nd place in the "Scientific Initiation" category of the IX Prof. Dr. João Garcia Leme Scientific Quality Award, organized by the Department of Pharmacology at ICB in partnership with the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (SBFTE).Additionally, from 2015 to 2021, I was involved in the production of educational and science communication content in podcast format.
