Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades (EACH)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Micael is a student of Molecular Sciences at the University of São Paulo (USP). His experience at the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) was particularly significant, as he had the opportunity to observe researchers at advanced stages of their careers, revealing the vast opportunities and daily challenges in the field of scientific research. This experience inspired him to pursue a formation that offers continuous and profound learning.During his time in the synthetic biology team, Micael worked on developing a biological circuit for the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii aimed at in situ degradation of PET microplastics. He also created a mathematical model based on differential equations to predict degradation rates at different concentrations. Among his achievements as a counselor for the National League of Biotechnology Academics, he is particularly proud of maintaining the functioning of the center during the pandemic and mentoring his successor. Micael believes that his education in Molecular Sciences will provide a solid foundation for understanding and integrating formal and natural sciences, enabling him to tackle scientific challenges in a multidisciplinary way and contribute to interdisciplinary solutions. His interest lies in exploring the frontiers of knowledge, addressing contemporary problems, and developing new technologies. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
