Maria Sylvia Baptista Serra

Master's student in the Postgraduate Programme in Architecture and Urbanism at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (PPGAU-IAU-USP) where she is developing the project "Financialisation of nature in the production of tourism and real estate in Brazil" under the guidance of Professor Lucia Zanin Shimbo. Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (IAU-USP, São Carlos-SP, Brazil) in 2023. She undertook an undergraduate exchange programme in 2022, where she studied Master 2 subjects at the École de L'Aménagement Durable des Territoires Etablissement Public (ENTPE) in Lyon, France. She completed three Scientific Initiations during her degree: with funding from the Unified Scholarship Programme (PUB-USP), under the guidance of Prof Luciano Bernardino Costa, with the title "Bordering urban landscapes: walking practices and theoretical reflection" in the period 2019-2020; with funding from the Unified Scholarship Programme (PUB-USP), under the guidance of Prof Manoel Antônio Alves, with the title "Highrise Project: Cartographies and Representations of Urbanisation Processes" in the period 2020-2021; and with funding from the CNPq Institutional Scholarship Programme for Scientific Initiation (PIBIC), under the guidance of Prof Manoel Antônio Alves. Camila Moreno de Camargo, with the title "Plural government in the metropolis of São Paulo in the context of the pandemic" for the period 2021-2022. Throughout her degree she took part in various cultural and extension groups, focusing on student organisation groups and mobilising women's agendas, such as the Women's Collective (2017-2020), Academic Week (2017-2018), the Armando Salles de Oliveira Academic Centre (2018-2020) as cultural vice-president, the Architecture and Urbanism Academic Secretariat (SAAU) (2020-2021) and the SISAL Architecture and Urbanism Model Office (EMAU) (2021-2022).
