Barbara Sophia Leurizo Escrich Luques Codeas

Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science - University of São Paulo (FMVZ-USP, 2022). During undergraduate studies, engaged in a Scientific Initiation project at the Small Animal Clinical Nutrition Service of the Universitys Veterinary Hospital (HOVET-USP). Subsequently completed a internship at the Instituto Baleia Jubarte (Humpback Whale Institute), where she contributed to marine mammal conservation initiatives, including post-mortem examinations, field monitoring, and rescue operations. Thereafter, undertook a Scientific Training Program at theLaboratory of Wildlife Comparative Pathology University of São Paulo (LAPCOM FMVZ/USP), actively participating in research activities in the field of comparative pathology, with a particular focus on aquatic mammals and diagnostic pathology. Currently a masters student in the postgraduate program in Experimental and Comparative Pathology at LAPCOM (FMVZ-USP), conducting research on pathological and infectious findings in Franciscana dolphins (Pontoporia blainvillei) in the context of fisheries bycatch.
