He was a researcher at the intergovernmental organization South Centre (Geneva), in the Health, Intellectual Property and Biodiversity Program, supporting multilateral negotiations and national/regional processes in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Experience in law, mostly in the following topics: intellectual property (pharmaceutical patents, contemporary China, traditional knowledge); commercial and economic law; law and new technologies; development studies and underdevelopment theory; law and anthropology.
