Rubens Reimão graduated in Medicine from the University of São Paulo Medical School (1976) (USP), and holds a Masters in Neurology from the University of São Paulo (1983) and PhD in Neurology from the University of São Paulo and University of Tennessee, USA (1989); with fellowship at the TWMC in Tokyo, Japan. He is currently appointed as Professor Livre-Docente (Full Professor) of the Hospital das Clínicas University of São Paulo Medical School. He is qualified in the area of Medicine with expertise in Neurology, Child Neurology, Sleep Medicine working mainly on the following research subjects: sleep, sleep disorders, insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy and childhood. He is head of the Sleep Medicine Advanced Research Group of the Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo Medical School. Rubens Reimão pioneered the first Sleep Medicine Clinic in Brazil in 1977 in the Division of Clinical Neurology of the Hospital das Clínicas, University of São Paulo Medical School which operates continuously. Reimão was also a Pioneer in being the first to describe the sleep patterns of Brazilian Indigenous people in 1998. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
